\"BugThey say some days you are the bug, and other days you are the windshield. I haven\u2019t figured out what that means yet, but when I do, I\u2019ll let you know.\u00a0 Today was a \u201cbug-who-just-barely-missed-the-windshield\u201d day for me. I\u2019ve discovered that when you volunteer to be on a committee or when you\u2019re the oldest one in a group or when you\u2019ve been elected as the leader of something, there\u2019s usually work involved. And typically, if you sign up to be involved in every single thing you can possibly be involved in, your life gets a little hectic.<\/p>\n

For example, if a person volunteers to: be the mascot, run pre-season track, lead a Lifegroup Team, take on being Head Sound Tech, sing in the church choir\u2019s big Christmas musical, be given the task of writing a script for their Theatre Class to perform for high school, babysit kids to earn money, be the new VP of the entire Student Body, try to keep up grades, AND deal with college decisions WITHOUT missing the new episodes of Once Upon a Time???!!! Sound familiar? Although not every high school student\u2019s schedule looks the same, we pretty much all have the same problem. How can I get all of that done while trying to balance my social life and my sleep life. *Sigh* Oh how I wish I could go back to the days of snacks, naps, and recess. Life was so much simpler then. But alas, between the sports practices, art classes, anatomy projects, and college visits, there\u2019s no time to close your eyes, much less take a cat nap! Rachel, why are you telling me about a depressing fact I already know?? Because. I\u2019m also here to tell you that I have a few solutions that may ease a little bit of that \u201cChristmas-break-is-almost-here-and-I-just-wanna-go-home pain.<\/p>\n

1) STOP!!!!!!!<\/p>\n

2) There. That\u2019s better. J Now breathe. And take a minute to listen to your favorite song. Don\u2019t worry about anything else going on. Just listen.<\/p>\n

3) Now before you snap back into go, go, go mode, focus on the most important things you need to get done today. Not tomorrow, not next week, today. It helps me to keep track by making lists. (And checking them twice of course!)<\/p>\n

4) Make sure all you\u2019re not filling up all your time with work or things you need to get done. Have some fun! You\u2019re eighteen, not eighty! Try to find time to spend with your family and friends, especially around this time of year.<\/p>\n

5) Don\u2019t forget to step back and think about what you\u2019re thankful for when you get stressed out. I know I\u2019ve had to challenge myself to do that a lot these past few weeks.<\/p>\n

I hope this list has been helpful and maybe given you a laugh or two J and I hope y\u2019all have a wonderful rest of the semester. TWENTY-SEVEN DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!<\/p>\n
