A little more about Alyssa…

So, I’m going through my college mail… and most of the letters and flyers all say the same thing. Things such as “Picture Yourself at ‘Generic’ University” or “7 Reasons Why ‘Generic’ University is Perfect for You“. And then I get to one look book that questions whether or not I have been looking for the important things in the universities that I’m interested in. This particular book prompted me to investigate things such as “size, location,” and “public vs. private”… all of the things that are drilled into our heads from the moment we begin the long and at times defeating college search.

As I continue reading, the guide reminds me to look into whether or not my schools of interest have a Quidditch teams. Yeah, you read right Quidditch! Now, while I am not interested in the particular college that offered me this awesome guide, I was prompted to look further into the colleges I have been considering attending throughout my junior year, and to investigate the Quidditch teams of these top two choices, Texas A&M and LSU. Of course, with my luck, the two schools that interest me the most are rival schools and, as if the decision is not already hard enough, they BOTH have active Quidditch teams! Just in case you were wondering, Texas A&M is ranked as the number 1 Quidditch team according to the International Quidditch Association (IQA).

Just in case you were still wondering, this research did not really help in my college decision… it did, however bring up some interesting topics amongst friends!
