Winter break!

The second thanksgiving is over; stores stock up on over priced Christmas EVERYTHING. I hardly get to enjoy my thanksgiving food baby for more than a day! Winter break is bound to be the epitome of my senior thus far. Being a student in the International Bachelorette (IB) program means that at the end of our senior year (May) we have these huge exams. Due to the exams, we finish up content right before winter break so basically it’s the most exiting thing in the world to all of us. On top of that um hello CHRISTMAS, which for all you food lovers out there, means more amazing FEASTS! I don’t know about any of you guys, but I have the hardest time finding presents for people. I may or may not be a slight perfectionist, so if I cant find that perfect present … I end up not getting them anything. Terrible, I know. Granted the most I get for Christmas is a hand-me-down present that they didn’t like. In the spirit of Christmas lets all keep in mind that all of my above stated “problems” are merely first world complaints. Maybe this Christmas season instead of writing a list of all the things I want, how about a list of all the things I’m so glad I have (along with a list of needs šŸ˜› ).

I’m taking a class called Environmental Systems and Societies; it’s basically the best class ever. I’m totally in love with it. So I decided to ask my teacher a few questions pertaining to possible careers in that field. Turns out it’s a HUGE up and coming market, awesome right? Well kinda … I have a passion for tons of things so narrowing it down will be the hardest part for me. My teacher grew up in Rhode Island and was a Marine Bio, Bio and Earth Science teacher before the IB program got introduced to our school. I was really interested in what he was doing right now. He attends an online grad school program that allows him to go to amazing places all over the world and learn/ conduct environmental science experiments. In high school he told me he was always outdoors and that’s what sparked his interest in the environment. This led to after school curricular activities and experiments. He says that was the most important thing he could have done, was to get out in the wilderness and just experience it, see if you could picture yourself being in it, protecting it and learning about it for the rest of your life. My answer was yes, 100% yes. Now the mission is to narrow down that yes. Over this break I will be completing my college applications, essays and the whole 9 yards. Exciting as it is to hopefully go away to someplace so entirely new, I will miss my home in paradise. This is to me, forever the most beautiful place on earth.

To call myself a nerd would be the understatement of the century! I think the worst word in the English language is averageā€¦and my favorite Spanish word is Gordita!! Basically, I want to change the world, in everything I do, I want to make a positive difference in my life and others. Oh and my favorite color is blue! I love every darn shade of it :)
