Q&A with Past Honorees:
Robert McClory Ketchikan High School Alaska

Robert McCloryDid being a finalist for Counselor of the Year aid you in your profession?

It’s empowering, invigorating and inspirational. I think our students feel more confidence in the program we offer. Since then I have received several other awards further reinforcing what I do.

I got Alaska School Counselor of the Year Award, Ketchikan Youth Leader Award, and Coca Cola Scholar’s Program Educator of Distinction Award. It’s given me a platform for ideas, thoughts, and perspectives. I was asked to give the Commencement Speech for our seniors, and several said it was the best one ever.

I don’t know if these subsequent opportunities would have happened without the former. It’s hard to know if they are connected.
